Ensure that the pressure systems are functioning properly
with Mandatory
Boiler Inspections
If your coffee machine has a boiler it will require a PSSR inspection. The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations were put in place in 2000.
They require pressurized steam systems (from steam-generating coffee machines to large commercial boilers) to be inspected annually to demonstrate compliance and ensure equipment safety.
We can assist you with this obligation.
Whether it is acting as an engineer, inspector, or both, its just one of the services we provide.
Why Boiler Inspections are
of utmost importance

The statutory examination is designed to ensure that the pressure system within your commercial machine is “safe” for continued operation and therefore helps to protect each person who may be in contact with or in the vicinity of that machine.
The system examination procedure includes:
- Safe and complete shutdown of the coffee machine.
- Inspection and testing of the steam pressure boiler, associated pressure system, and pipework according to a Written Scheme of Examination.
- Reassembly of the coffee machine with a heating element gasket replacement.
- Hot testing to ensure protective/control devices function per manufacturer recommendations.
- Submission of findings to the support team for a detailed examination report and Written Scheme of Examination.
- If the machine fails, a second visit is required, and the equipment must remain at zero pressure until full maintenance is conducted and a Written Scheme of Examination is in place.
An annual planned coffee machine maintenance is recommended in 6 month, annual or per cups intervals.
Some common components of coffee machine maintenance service pricing may include:
- Inspection and cleaning
- Replacement of worn or damaged parts
- Calibration and adjustment
- Preventative maintenance
The pricing for coffee machine maintenance service will depend on several factors, such as the complexity of the machine, the extent of the needed repairs or maintenance, and the geographic location of the service provider.
It’s important to get a detailed quote to ensure that we can make an informed pricing decision.
Customized preventative maintenance plans for your unique business needs.

Legal Requirements
If you own a commercial coffee machine with a steam boiler, you must comply with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR 2000). PSSR requires pressure systems containing “relevant fluids,” including steam, to be examined following a certified Written Scheme of Examination.
-
Failure to Comply Risks
If you continue to use an espresso machine incorporating a steam boiler without the required boiler inspection services carried out following a Written Scheme of Examination, you will not be compliant with PSSR 2000 which is a criminal offence.

Rebecca Evans, Buyer-Indirects
As part of Prezzo’s coffee offer relaunch, we wanted to ensure we onboarded coffee supply partners who were experts in each of their fields.
For coffee machine service, it was an easy decision for us, as we had been working with Espresso Service on a project already where they delivered everything, we had asked of them in a professional and timely way. Their knowledge of coffee and service far exceeded our expectations, and we were very happy to be able to award them the service contract on a permanent basis. We very much look forward to continue working with them.

Steve Owens, Central Operations Manager
Azzurri have enjoyed working with Espresso Service for many years. We were originally introduced to them by an FM company.
This year we made the decision to move to a new FM provider and we did not hesitate in asking Espresso Service to move across with us. Their desire to continually improve their ways of working and introduce new innovations is very refreshing in the service industry.

Espresso Service has been providing coffee equipment maintenance to Greene King since 2015.
The length of time we have been working with them is testament to their quality of service, and constant drive for innovation and change. We were delighted to hear that they have recently been awarded B Corp accreditation and are looking forward to working with them to help reach our goal of being net zero by 2040.
